About Us

Ribbon cutting ceremony at the Snooty Frog with John Sanders, Michelle Schanel, staff, and support
The team at our ribbon cutting ceremony. 2008.

The Snooty Frog first opened in 1983 in its current location in Burke Junction, but Michelle Schanel bought it in 1987.  She turned the Snooty Frog into a “hoppin” place when she purchased the full liquor license in 1989 and expanded the restaurant with a full and lively bar.  It wasn’t long before she had many well known Cameron Park patrons frequenting her business.

The Snooty Frog soon got so popular that Michelle decided she needed even more space.  By this time John got in the mix and together they decided to try their business out in a new “pond”.  They moved the Snooty Frog to El Dorado Hills in 1994 where they were also very successful and had the opportunity to expand their clientele even further.

Years went by, and Michelle and John decided to take a break and retire for a few years.  But it wasn’t long before they started missing the fast paced life and all of their friends who came to visit them at the restaurants.  There is just something special about Cameron Park and they knew that this was where they should re-open.  They completely remodeled the current unit in Burke’s Junction and they are glad to be back in business here in Cameron Park!
